ELECTRICAL SYSTEM A 12 volt electrical system is required. Check that the charging system is working properly and not producing over 16 volts. DISTRIBUTOR CLAMP A 1966-69 style distributor clamp (original or aftermarket) is required. MODULE This distributor uses an Accel Single/Dual Fire Ignition module part number 35496. See the enclosed form “Instruction Sheet Single/Dual Fire” for instructions on wiring, adjusting the rev limiter and selecting an advance curve. COIL(S) A coil(s) with a total primary resistance of 2 to 4 ohms is recommended. INSTALLATION Step 1 Turn the ignition switch to the off position. Rotate the engine until it is on the compression stroke for the front cylinder. Continue to rotate the engine until the TDC mark is visible through the timing hole. (see repair manual if necessary). Step 2 Remove the existing distributor if still in the engine. Step 3 Remove the two button head screws from the top of the Mallory distributor. Pull the top cover off the distributor. Remove the two hex standoffs and pull the module and upper housing off the distributor base assembly. Adjust the switches on the module for the desired advance curve and rev limit. FORM 1627 07/08 Step 4 Install the distributor base assembly in the engine with the screw holes and shutter wheel positioned as shown in Figures 1 and 2. It may be necessary to pull the distributor out, turn the shaft and reinstall to get the shutter wheel at the approximate angle shown. The slots should be at about the11 o’clock and 7 o’clock positions. The screw holes should be at the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock positions. Step 5 Install the distributor clamp and tighten the clamp bolt lightly so the distributor can still be rotated. Step 6 Set the upper housing on the base assembly as shown in figure 3. (The upper housing will only install one way because of the locating screw) Rotate the base assembly slightly if necessary so that the slot in the shutter wheel lines up with the slot in the upper housing. Turn ignition switch to the OFF position. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. 2) Disconnect the wire at the coil which runs down to the points. Remove the point cover plate. 3) Note the position of the slots in the point plate. When the Mallory UNILITEfi plate is installed, use the position of the slots to approximate the timing. 4) Remove the wire to the points. Remove the O.E. standoffs and washers. Remove the point plate assembly. 5) Remove the O.E. cam sleeve from the advance assembly. Place a small amount of oil on the advance shaft which supported the cam sleeve. 6) Slide the Mallory shutter wheel onto the advance shaft. Make sure the shutter wheel is all the way down into the advance assembly (it will only go one way due to the roll pin in the advance assembly). 7) Install the advance and shutter wheel into the nose cone. Make sure that the pin on the bottom of the advance engages the slot on the end of the camshaft. Apply Loctite to the threads and install the advance bolt. Torque to 25 in.lb. 8) Rotate the shutter wheel by hand (counter-clockwise) and release. It should rotate about 10 degrees and “snap” back when released. 9) Install the two Mallory standoffs. Place Loctite on the threads and torque to 16 in.lb. Do not use any washers with the standoffs. 10) Start the three wires of the Mallory UNILITEfi Module through the hole in the nose cone housing. (The module goes in towards the advance assembly with the flat plate outward). Pull on the three wires to remove any slack and prevent the wires from rubbing on the shutter wheel. 11) Rotate the UNILITEfi plate assembly until the slots in the plate are in the same position as the point plate was. This should make the timing close enough to start the engine. Slide the two Mallory 8-32 sleeve nuts (supplied) through the UNILITEfi plate and onto the male threads of the Mallory standoffs. Tighten the sleeve nuts just enough to prevent the plate from moving. 14) Route the wires from the UNILITEfi Module to the ignition coil, carefully avoiding the exhaust system. Connect the red wire to the positive (+) terminal (12 volts) on the coil. Connect the green wire to the negative (ñ) terminal on the coil (where the point wire was connected). Connect the brown wire to ground. The best place for the brown wire is the negative (ñ) post on the battery, however, any part of the frame or engine which is grounded to the battery will work

Programming the RPM The engine application and rpm activation points are easily selected through push buttons on the LED panel. This Switch can be programmed for a variety of engine and ignitions as shown below. 1-Cylinder This program is used for individual coil per cylinder systems (such as GM LS-1 engines, or ’99-Up Mustangs) 2-Cylinder This is for ignitions with coil packs that fire two cylinders at the same time (waste spark systems) 2-Cyl. Odd Use on coil pack ignitions that are on odd-fire engines such as a Viper V-10 or Harley-Davidson motorcycle. 4-Cylinder Typical 4-cylinder engines with a distributor. 6-Cylinder Typical 6-cylinder engines with a distributor. 6-Cyl. Odd Typical 6-cylinder odd-fire engines with a distributor. 8-Cylinder Typical 8-cylinder engines with a distributor. 1.2 Push Button LED Panel The rpm activation points and cylinder select are programmed through the push buttons on the LED panel (Figure 1) . Press the Mode button, and notice that the indicator point above the On RPM lights. When that point is on, you can scroll the rpm value up or down with the arrows on the left of the panel. Once your On rpm is set, push the Mode button until the Off RPM point lights, then set the off rpm point. Note that if the rpm point is not changed within 2-seconds, the screen returns to the current rpm reading (zero when the engine is not running). After setting the On and Off points, press the Mode button to program the Cylinder Select Valve (default is for 8-cyl.

Step 1: Apply a thin coat of silicone grease to the bottom of the module before mounting the module to its plate in the distributor. Step 2: Slide the three wires from the MODULE, through the grommet, to outside the distributor housing. Put the three wires from the MODULE in the TERMINAL PIN HOUSING: GREEN WIRE in hole #1, BROWN WIRE in hole #2, RED WIRE in hole #3. Plug the three wire harness (PN 29349, not supplied with this kit) into the TERMINAL PIN HOUSING. RED WIRE: Power/voltage for the MODULE. Connect to coil (+) terminal. GREEN WIRE: Ignition trigger. Connect to coil (-) terminal. BROWN WIRE: Ground for the MODULE. Connect to ENGINE BLOCK GROUND. Clean away any grease, oil, and paint from the mounting surface before the connection is made.

Flathead (1929-1974), Knucklehead (1936-1947), Panhead (1948-1965), Shovelhead (1966-1984), Evolution (Blockhead) 1340 (1984-1999), Big Twins 1450 (2000 to current), Revolution/V-Rod (2001 to current) Ironhead Sport- sters (1957-1984) & Evolution Sportsters 1985 to current. Harley Davidson recommends SAE 50 or 60 for the engine oil in their Flathead, Knucklehead, Panhead, and Shovelhead. AMSOIL recommends AHR SAE 60 or MCV 20W-50 motorcycle oil for all these older models. Use AMSOIL SVG or SVO for the transmissions. Of these models only the Shovelhead has a chain case that is lubed, and is fed by the engine oil. In the Evolution 1340, Big Twins 1450, and V-Rods, AM- SOIL recommends MCV 20W-50 motorcycle oil in all 3 holes (engine, transmission, and primary chain case). High-pressure fluid flow The engine rotates the pump swash plate, which has a gear mechanism. The rotating swash plate pushes the pump pistons to increase the pressure on the hydraulic fluid and feed it to the high-pressure annular chamber. The high- pressure fluid is then fed to the oil motor piston chamber where it pushes the pistons forward, which then push the motor swash plate. Power Fluid flow from pump to motor Fluid flow from motor to pump Low-pressure fluid flow The lower-pressure hydraulic fluid returns to the pump through the low-pressure annular chamber. In this way, the fluid circulates between the pump and the motor. Movement of distributor valves and pistons The distributor valves play an important role in fluid circulation. The valves are placed both in the oil pump and motor. When the pump pistons move to the compression side, the valves connect the piston chamber and the high- pressure chamber. When the pump pistons move to the expansion side, the valves allow a connection between the piston chamber and the low-pressure chamber. The valve in the oil motor moves opposite to its counterpart in the pump, ensuring the circulation of fluid within the system

PREP AND TUNING FOR POWER: 1. Specific applications may show an increase in performance through additional carburetor tuning. 2. Aftermarket distributor curve kits and aftermarket ignitions may be used with the Street Tunnel Ram intake manifold. 3. Use modified or high performance cylinder heads such as our Performer RPM, and port match the intake manifold to the heads. 3. The engine’s compression ratio should be at least 9.5:1 to work properly with Torker-Plus or Performer RPM camshafts. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE INTAKE MANIFOLD BASE 1. Use only recommended intake gaskets set when installing this intake manifold. 2. Fully clean the cylinder head intake flanges and the engine block end seal surfaces. 3. Apply Edelbrock Gasgacinch sealant P/N 9300 to both cylinder head flanges and to the cylinder head side of the gaskets, allow to air dry, and attach the intake gaskets. 4. Do not use cork or rubber end seals. Use RTV silicone sealer instead. Apply a ¼” high bead across each block end seal surface, overlapping the intake gasket at the four corners. This method will eliminate end seal slippage. 5. Install the intake manifold hold-down bolts (We offer an Intake Manifold Bolt Kit #8504 that includes small-head silver Cadmium-plated bolts and matching hardened washers). Apply a small amount of RTV silicone to the threads of the eight inner bolts (1,2,3,4,5,7,9, & 11) (See Figure 1) . This will prevent oil weepage, as generally these are not blind holes in the cylinder head. 6. Torque all of the manifold bolts in two steps by the sequence shown in Figure 1 to 25 ft/lbs. INTAKE MANIFOLD TOP 1. Apply Edelbrock Gasgacinch sealant P/N 9300 to the gasket mating surface and install the gasket and manifold top. 2. Install and tighten the supplied hold down bolts using a liquid thread-locking compound on the bolt threads. As an extra safety precaution, we suggest you drill a small safety wire hole in the head of each bolt and safety wire them together. FUEL SELECTION 1. Choose a fuel from a reputable, brand name company that is approved for car/truck use. Do not use airplane or boat fuels in your car/truck. Choose methanol based model engine glow fuel that has a nitro content in the range 10%-30% and 5% to 18% caster/synthetic oil content for lubrication. Lower nitro percentages will generally result in a cooler engine running temperature and therefore last longer before needing a rebuild; cooler-running engines also generally produce less power. 20% nitro is the most widely used fuel. 2. Fuel color is for identification purpose only and is not important to performance or durability of your engine. 3. Be careful. If the tank overflows it might get on your radio gear or on your brakes and it may create an unsafe driving situation. Always keep your fuel bottle closed when not in use. 4. Do not dispose of fuel or empty fuel containers in a fire. It may possibly cause fire or explosion. ENGINE 1. For proper engine break-in procedure, please refer to the manual of your engine. 2. Never run your vehicle without the air filter .If the vehicle will be operated in an area with fine dust, use filter oil or caster oil instead of fuel. It is important that the foam is only moist to trap dirt and allow air passage. With the foam too wet, limited air can pass through; therefore, limiting engine performance. 3. The parts around engine could be dangerously hot after operation. Do not touch it without any protection! RADIO OPERATION 1. When turning radio on, first turn on the transmitter and extend the transmitter antenna. 2. Then, turn on the receiver. When turning off, first turn the receiver off, then the transmitter off. FIRST AID 1. If you drink nitro fuel by accident, immediately drink large quantities of water and try to induce vomiting. Consult with physician right after then. 2. If the nitro fuel gets into your eyes, rinse them well with water. Consult with physician right after then. 3. If the fuel gets onto your skin, wash it well with soap and water. WARNING 1. Breather plug Make sure to aerate the front fork at regular intervals: Put the motorcycle on a workstand so that the front wheel barely touches the ground. Loosen the breather plug to release excessive pressure in the front fork. Recommended Service Intervals Every 25 hours. Make your service and maintenance according to Öhlins Workshop manual. Adjust by turning the slotted screw with a screwdriver. Rebound damping adjuster The rebound adjuster is located at the bottom of the fork leg. Adjust by turning the slotted screw with a screwdriver. To Reset The adjusters have a normal right hand thread. Turn the damping adjusters gently clockwise to fully closed (pos. zero [0]). To open, turn counter clockwise, and count the clicks until you reach the recommended number. For recommended clicks see Set-up data. Static sag can only be changed with softer or harder spring rate.
