HARLEY DAVIDSON BATTERY CHARGING HARNESS (THREE-PIN) INSTALLATION MANUAL

1. Follow the instructions in your Owner’s Manual to remove the seat and any other components (side covers, etc.) necessary to provide access to the battery. 2. Refer to the applicable view in Figure 1 for your model. Break the battery negative (-) connection by removing the hardware assembly from the negative battery terminal. 3. Break the positive (+) battery connection by removing the hardware assembly from the positive battery terminal. 4. Clean the battery terminals and cable connectors using a wire brush or sandpaper to remove any oxidation. 5. Apply a light coating of Harley-Davidson electrical contact lubricant (Part Number 99861-02) to the battery terminals, cable connectors, battery charging harness ring terminals and connector located under the weather- shield cap. Connect positive (+) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00068a) 6. Refer to the view in Figure 1 used for disassembly. Install the positive (RED) lead of the harness to the positive (+) battery post following the sequence shown. • On 1999 and earlier models (with original equipment), torque the positive (+) terminal post bolt to 40 in-lbs (4.5 Nm). • On 2000 and later models (with original equipment), torque the positive (+) terminal post bolt to 60-96 in-lbs (6.8-10.9 Nm). 7. Attach the negative (BLACK) lead of the harness to the negative (-) battery post following the sequence shown. • On 1999 and earlier models (with original equipment), torque the negative (-) terminal post bolt to 40 in-lbs (4.5 Nm). • On 2000 and later models (with original equipment), torque the negative (-) terminal post bolt to 60-96 in-lbs (6.8-10.9 Nm). Harness Routing Do not route the harness near any moving parts. Contact with moving parts may result in damage to harness. Refer to the following sections to determine the correct harness routing for your model. Be sure to avoid any components that may pinch or cut the harness, and avoid components that radiate heat. Take up any slack in the cable and store out of sight. Secure the harness with cable straps (H-D Part Number 10006), which can be purchased separately from any Harley Davidson Dealer. VRSC Model Harness Routing 1. See Figure 2. Route the battery harness/ connector (3) toward the front of the bike following the upper left frame tube. Cleanly tuck the in-line fuse (2) into the space in front of the battery. 2. Continue to route the harness/ gray connector to the front of the bike and behind the vent cover. Secure the harness with a cable strap and let the connector protrude past the cover for easy access. Trim any excess from the cable strap

SECURITY SYSTEM SMART SIREN AND SMART SIREN II BATTERY REPLACEMENT KIT SIREN BOX REMOVAL Read the following instructions and make sure you fully understand them prior to replacing the battery. If the procedure is not within your capabilities, or you do not have the correct tool, have a Harley-Davidson dealer replace the battery. Improper installation could result in damage to this product. (00419b) 1. Refer to the Owner’s Manual and follow the instructions given to disarm the security system. 2. Remove the siren box from the vehicle. Reference the siren installation procedures found in the Siren Kit Instruction Sheet or contact a Harley-Davidson dealer for specific information on locating and removing the siren box from your model. Battery replacement, Smart Siren 1. See Figure 1. Remove the battery cover (2) from the siren box as follows: a. Place the siren on a sturdy, flat surface with the potting (1) and battery cover facing up. b. Using a blunt, stiff blade such as a table knife, insert the blade between the case and cover at a 45 degree angle to the side of the case. Insert the blade until it touches the snaps on the inside face of the cover. Figure 2 shows the four barbed snaps (2). c. Twist the blade slowly so the inserted edge presses against the inside face of the cover. The cover will pop off and can be replaced later using silicone adhesive if necessary

REMOVAL 1. See Figure 3. Remove button-head screw (A) that attaches battery cover (B) to battery tray (C). 2. See Figure 1. Remove battery cover by lifting it over the two tabs on the battery tray. NOTE The original equipment battery cover trim has four pinch tabs on the reverse side that attach it to the battery cover. 3. See Figure 2. Remove original equipment battery cover trim from battery cover by pushing the four pinch tabs out of the battery cover using a pliers or suitable tool. INSTALLATION 1. Place battery cover over the two tabs on battery tray (C) and attach it to battery tray with button-head screw (A). Tighten screw to 20-40 in-lbs (2.3-4.6 Nm). 2. Obtain chrome battery cover trim (1) from kit. 3. Using a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol/water solution, thoroughly clean the surface where the chrome trim will be installed. Let it dry completely. NOTE Test the trim mount fit prior to removing the adhesive backing from the chrome battery cover trim. 4. Remove adhesive liner from the chrome battery cover trim. NOTE The ideal temperature should be at least 60° F (16° C) for proper adhesion of the chrome trim on the battery cover. 5. Center and install chrome trim onto the battery cover. Apply firm pressure for one minute using a cloth to prevent scratching the battery cover and battery trim. 6. Let the adhesive cure for 24 hours at no less than 60° F (16° C)

If two modules are already installed on top of the radio, two Dual-LockTM mounts, (76434-06), will be needed. Models WITHOUT a Tour-Pak installed will require the additional purchase of a Frame Mount CB Antenna Kit (76415- 06). Models WITH a Tour-Pak installed will require the additional purchase of a Tour-Pak Mount CB Antenna Kit (76414-06). All of these items are available from a Harley-Davidson Dealer. Electrical Overload It is possible to overload your motorcycle’s charging system by adding too many electrical accessories. If your combined electrical accessories operating at any one time consume more electrical current than your vehicle’s charging system can produce, the electrical consumption can discharge the battery and cause vehicle electrical system damage. CHROME 1.25 INCH (31.75 MM) DIAMETER HANDLEBAR KIT GENERAL Kit Number 56032-08 Models For model fitment information, see the P&A retail catalog or the Parts and Accessories section of www.harley-davidson.com (English only). This kit does not fit models equipped with a hydraulic clutch, handlebar mounted gauges or the Road Tech® Radio. Additional Parts or Accessories Required Separate purchase of additional parts or accessories is required for proper installation of this Handlebar Kit on this model motorcycle. Please see the P&A retail catalog or the Parts and Accessories section of for a list of required parts or accessories for this model. For Australia, Brazil, England, Europe and Japan, two special screws (Part Number 2935A) will also be required. Tools and Supplies Required Loctite® 271 Threadlocker and Sealant – Red (H-D Part Number 99671-97) is required for the proper installation of this kit. Fresh, uncontaminated DOT 4 brake fluid from a sealed container will also be needed. Replace brake line gaskets. Re-using original gaskets can cause brake failure and loss of vehicle control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00318a) For models that retain the original brake line, the two brake- line gaskets found at each banjo fitting must be replaced . Refer to the appropriate parts catalog or see a Harley-Davidson dealer for the correct part numbers. Motorcycles equipped with a glued left-side hand grip will also require a new grip, sold separately. Refer to the parts catalog for replacement stock hand grips. INSTALLATION Preparation To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect battery cables (negative (-) cable first) before proceeding. (00307a) Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 1. Refer to the service manual and follow the instructions given to remove the seat and disconnect the battery cables, negative cable first. Retain all seat mounting hardware. Direct contact of D.O.T. 4 brake fluid with eyes can cause irritation. Avoid eye contact. In case of eye contact flush with large amounts of water and get medical attention. Swallowing large amounts of D.O.T. 4 brake fluid can cause digestive discomfort. If swallowed, obtain medical attention. Use in well ventilated area. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. (00240a) D.O.T. 4 brake fluid will damage painted and body panel surfaces it comes in contact with. Always use caution and protect surfaces from spills whenever brake work is performed. Failure to comply can result in cosmetic damage. (00239b) NOTE Immediately wipe up any brake fluid spillage with a clean, dry, soft cloth. Follow up by thoroughly wiping affected area with a clean, damp, soft cloth (small spills) or washing with a large quantity of soapy water (large spills)
